ANDALOU NATURALS Beauty Balm and Color + Correct, both with broad spectrum protection

During the hot summer months, or even when hitting the slopes in the winter, you may be thinking about amping-up your sun protection regime. I recently decided to move on to products for the face with SERIOUS broad spectrum protection from the sun—very important when you will encounter ANY sun exposure.

I found that Andalou Naturals had both a Beauty Balm and Color + Correct cream worthy of this mission.

After purchasing these at Pharmaca (also sold at Sprouts, Whole Foods, Target and Amazon, among others for around USD $19.99 each), I’ve been using them on my face every day since!

The BB is un-tinted and classified as ‘clarifying’ because of its mattifying hydration promise for active or oily skin. The CC is tinted Sheer Tan (sheer enough for most skin tones – fair or dark) and fine for sensitive skin (delicate and/or dry skin), as well as mattifying. Both contain a BioActive 8 Berry Complex (a certified organic collection of powerful super fruit antioxidants), Certified Organic Aloe Vera (which soothes inflammation, oxygenates and hydrates skin) and use Zinc Oxide for UVA/UVB, Broad Spectrum SPF 30.

Both are Gluten Free, 100% Non-GMO, Paraben and Sulfate Free, Vegan and Cruelty Free!

Both of these also utilize plant Stem Cells to stimulate cell life and longevity – working to stop the signs of aging along with their Broad Spectrum SPF 30 protection.

Andalou’s Oil Control Beauty Balm uses Zinc Oxide at 20% as its sunscreen, so it goes on with a white sheen that absorbs quickly. An added benefit for my skin, it also diminishes pores and controls excess oil production. Although it may seem counterintuitive, hydrating skin usually also helps to ensure it doesn’t produce too much oil (soothed skin behaves more evenly).

Apple and grape stem cell technology contribute to healthier cells by encouraging cell turnover, along with superfruit (just a term for fruits that are particularly high in antioxidants) antioxidants that are good for skin because they help limit the production of free-radicals.

Andalou’s 1000 Roses Color + Correct moisturizer has the same Zinc Oxide at 20% as its sunscreen, but I don’t notice any of the temporary white residue as it includes a sheer tan tint that is easily bendable and somewhat buildable. Its called ‘1000 Roses’ because of its Alpine Rose Stem Cells.

At first I thought maybe I just needed the Sheer BB Cream, but the sheer color of the CC provides a great starting base for areas that need more color. I usually start the morning by washing my face with just warm water, patting it towel dry, then applying a layer (up into the top hair line) all-over of the Beauty Balm. After that, I add the Color + Correct just to cover any areas with imperfections or discolorations (for me – around my eyes and at the top of my forehead).

I follow this base with a clear primer (all-over) and some concealer to cover any circles under my eyes. And, sometimes I also brush on a bit of powder mineral foundation to the eye area to help prevent any mascara bleed.
