#BIRCHBOX September 2017 – Show Us Your Style!

Birchbox’s September theme revolves around appreciating their customers and, this year is their 7th birthday! I received a survey that let me pre-choose my box design (from among those from three different designers). Birchbox September 2017 is all about tailoring to YOU.

The September Birchbox I selected and received was designed by illustrator Emily Isabella, titled Creative, Magical, Colorful. Birchbox asked subscribers to customize their box this month with their own personal flair and share it on social media. Since I already love to paint, this was a perfect opportunity for me. Here is the untouched version, and my customization:

(btw, I’m also giving this post my own personal flair by incorporating a travel-esque theme, since that is one of my passions and because sample items are the perfect size for travel)

Items I received this month are based on my set preferences:

  • BRIOGEO Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray, full size $20.00 USD

This milky liquid leave-in conditioner’s powerful ingredients are argan, coconut and rosehip oils. Combined, these oils make hair strong, detangled, and so soft. In addition, the spray works to protect against moisture loss and adds shine. Its ultra lightweight and safe for color-treated hair. Its also Vegan and 96% naturally derived.

As if that wasn’t enough, I particularly love that this product is “6-Free” and contains NO sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates, artificial colors or gluten. Its cruelty-free as well.

Use it like most other leave-in conditioners—by spraying on damp (towel-dried hair) from mid-length to the ends. You can either use a hair dryer or let your hair air dry afterward. Then style as usual.

It has a light scent, not particularly perfume-y or sweet, which dissipates quickly. I find that it leaves my hair really soft! I will put this on my list to get in the full size.

  • JURLIQUE Rose Moisture Plus Revitalizing Gel-Lotion, full size is $47.00 USD

This thin lotion is moisture-rich with rosehip, avocado, macadamia and grape see oils. It also takes on a very delicate sweet scent from the rose oil.

For this set of photos, I added a drop of the lotion to the edge of the rose petal, so you can get an idea of its color and consistency. The lotion contains fatty acids to give it long lasting moisturizing effects. And, it has an antioxidant complex for guarding skin agains the harsh daily effects of pollution.

This sample is so tiny, that I may not have enough uses to get an idea of its consistent results, but I have found that it absorbs very quickly and does seem to leave skin softer.

The pencil form of this strobing product allows for very precise application of facial highlights. Vitamins C and E ensure easy blending so that you can get just the desired amount of highlight on the cupid’s bow, center of the nose, above eyebrows and in the inner corner of eyes (or, wherever you need extra light and glow).

I like to use this delicate pearl shade just on the smaller areas of my face, like the cupid’s bow and inner corner of my eyes, so that there is no need to blend it over a large area. No worry about this going on too glaringly either, as it does blend out easily as much as desired.

This medium-thick lip gloss relies on peptides to help plump lips. It contains soothing jojoba and chamomile, as well as mint that gives it its scent and may cause lips to tingle a bit.

Pixi can be worn alone for a hint of color and full-on shine, or layered over lipstick for dramatic shine. It’s thick enough to stay on through my morning iced coffee too!

A very sophisticated floral, Florence has top notes of grapefruit, bergamot and gardenia with base notes that include blonde wood and musk.

I have visited Florence, Italy twice and was captivated both times. Like the city, the perfume is romantic and beautiful in an old-world way.

Its complex floral scent is reminiscent of strolling through one of the ancient orangery gardens in Europe (there is a large one at the Boboli Gardens in Florence), where citrus trees were housed in the colder months.

Have a gorgeous week!
