BECCA Cosmetics Skin Love Glow Elixir serum

If you don’t include a serum in your daily makeup routine, this may be a step you will want to add to help protect delicate skin cells and add moisture before makeup! I definitely wish I had started using Becca’s #SkinLove #GlowElixir sooner. 🙂

Skin Love Glow Elixir is a little on the pricey side, so it has taken me a while to try this one. My bottle was purchased at Ulta at the price of $48.00 USD, which is the same as it is sold for on the Becca Cosmetics site (which, by the way, has ALL foundations on sale this week!—when does that ever happen?), and elsewhere. The glass bottle is 0.98fl oz/29ml in size.

Although I still feel the price is pretty steep, I am really pleased with Glow Elixir’s performance, and the difference it has made to my skin. It babies skin in three ways: hydrates, nourishes and adds glow.

Becca’s line of Skin Love products all include a proprietary “Glow Nectar Brightening Hydra Complex.” In other words, they are packed with natural ingredients that soothe and illuminate skin.

Glow Elixir

These powerful ingredients are the reason that Glow Elixir is best used as a first step, on bare skin, so that it can directly work its magic! Here are the biggies:

  • Algae, honey and peony extract help impart a glow.
  • Hyaluronate and licorice extract moisturize.
  • Blueberry & cranberry extracts as well as resveratrol and vitamin E protect skin from free radicals with antioxidants.

Although this iridescent serum is almost clear, hopefully you can get an idea of how it looks from the placement on the side of my hand (above). It has a lovely, sweet, cucumber scent (that is how it smells to me anyway) and absorbs almost instantly! And, not to worry, the scent is light and dissipates quickly.

Because of the powerful ingredient mixture, this serum should only be used once a day. I like to apply it before any combination of layers that include: moisturizer/sunscreen/primer/makeup. As a first layer on skin, that ensures my skin is best guarded from pollution, and heat or cold, for the day.

When I put this on, after washing my face with warm water in the morning, I place 2-3 drops on my face (usually a big drop on my forehead and one at the top of each cheek) before using fingertips to lightly distribute them. You can either use the lid dropper to first add the product to your fingertips or drop dots directly onto your face (try not to touch the dropper to skin, to keep germs out).

Glow Elixir

Every drop of this lightweight serum is antioxidant packed! It definitely doesn’t take much to get an effective application. Plus, I find that it helps keep makeup on, acting as a primer (even when not paired with a primer). And, it is both cruelty-free and vegan.

Would love to hear from those of you who have tried Glow Elixir, and find out how it worked for you.

There are two other products in the Skin Love collection: Weightless Blur Foundation (which comes in 24 shades) and Glow Glaze Stick. The foundation has a medium coverage that is buildable. The Glow Stick imparts a natural-looking highlight to skin. I think I’m going to order both of these next, after loving this serum so much.

You’ve almost made it to Friday, Gorgeous!

xoxo,
Jen
