BIRCHBOX April 2018—Feed Your . . . .
April’s Birchbox is all about rebooting your beauty routine (just in time for Spring). Its theme is: Feed Your . . . Mind, Body and Soul!
The Feed Your ‘spirit’ includes being inspired by reading about others’ experiences/triumphs, exercising outdoors (when the weather allows), being mindful, keeping calm, and taking care of your skin/body/mind. And, I would say, this includes taking the time to appreciate the newness of Spring by stopping to admire and smell the flowers as they begin to bloom!
Love Birchbox’s floral box design for April!
And, here are the fabulous products that I received this month:
Glow Milk is a gorgeous pale champagne pink liquid highlighter. It comes in a tiny glass container with a lid that screws shut and has a small applicator brush.
Glow Milk is a highlighter that illuminates the skin, and includes coconut oil for hydration. It has minimal shimmer and a mild, sweet scent. I’ve used it to ‘add’ light to my face by placing dots on all the high points (upper cheek bones, down the center of the nose, at the inner eye corners, under the brow bone and on the cupid’s bow of the upper lip) then blending with a fingertip.
I quite like this highlighter, and am happy that it is cruelty-free as well as vegan.
Plus, this tiny bottle is perfect for travel!
btw—One funny thing that I’ll share with you is that I thought Glow Milk was nail polish upon first glance (because of the packaging) and so tired to use it on my fingernails at first (before reading about the products), LOL! Of course it wore right off, much to my surprise, after which I realized my mistake. Hopefully I’m not the only one! (Am I?)
So, don’t use it this way:
This matifying moisturizer is tailored to my dry/oily combo skin. What’s amazing about it is that it moisturizes, AND absorbs excess sebum (with Fluidactiv TM) to control oil and shine. So, besides its power to ensure a mat complexion, it also improves skin texture and primes skin for makeup. It’s definitely a powerhouse.
This is fine for teens to use as well as adults. And, it is hypoallergenic, paraben-free, and non-comedogenic. Plus! it comes in a tinted version (which I may have to get soon). Perfect!
The tapered mascara wand of BADgal BANG!, with its fine mini tines all around, very accurately coats each lash. In fact, Benefit named their custom brush—Slimpact brush.
I like that this mascara is smudge-proof, water resistant (not waterproof), and makes lashes BIG! It contains ProVitamin B5 to give lashes thickness and strength and is 36-hour wear. I’m actually very impressed with this mascara!
Here, you can see what BADgal mascara looks like on lashes:
A primer with sunscreen? Heck yah!
Another great product by COOLA, dawn patrol has antioxidant protection via honeysuckle, white lily, and iris stem cells; primes skin for makeup; and guards against UVA and UVB rays with an SPF30.
To use, apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Dawn patrol is clear too, so it does not leave any white residue.
It has a natural, very light, cucumber scent and is water resistant for 40 minutes.
A pressurized white mousse, Grandiose gives hair body with no crunch. It holds your style with all-day memory and leaves tresses soft, with UV protection and without parabens or sodium chloride.
Grandiose has so many healthy ingredients! It includes the Oribe Signature Complex: Watermelon, Lychee and Edelweiss Flower extracts. And, it also contains Panthenol (volume), Sunflower Seed Oil + Glycerin + Vitamin E (moisture), Hydrolized Wheat Protein (heat protection & shine), Superior Styling Polymer (flexible hold) and Starch Polymer (thickness & smoothness).
Grandiose protects against oxidative stress, photo aging and deterioration of keratin. It also won’t dry-out hair or damage color, which works very well for my foiled tresses. Just a dollop works for one use too (distributed throughout hair), otherwise it can be a bit sticky.
Now I’m ready for Spring!! Bring it!
Have a fabulous day, Gorgeous!
xo,
Jen
