PHYSICIANS FORMULA Butter Highlighter in pearl
Physicians Formula brand makes a number of products within their ‘Butter’ line, specifically: highlighter, blush and bronzer. I recently got this Butter Highlighter in Pearl at Ulta for $10.99 (no brush included).
This highlighter seems a little difficult to find right now, although I know that the Physicians Formula site has all four of the colors offered: Champagne—medium beige pearl, Pink—mid to darkish mauve/pink, Rose Gold—warm mocha pink, and Pearl—iridescent white, at $10.95 each.
The reason they call these ‘Butter’ is because they include the ingredients Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter (all natural tropical plant extract butters). The named this mix of ingredients a Murumuru Butter Blend. The design on the box and the pot of highlighter features a palm frond design (which references the Murumuru butter source—the seeds of a specific palm that grows in the Amazon).
And, amazingly, the texture of the cream-to-powder highlighter is soooo smooth it actually feels like butter. Best applied with fingertips, so you get the full saturation of color, this highlighters seems to melt under your fingers it is so soft. I do still however like to use a tiny brush with this cream/powder for the tear duct area, for the sake of precision.
The color is a stunning iridescent white pearl with a finite pink shift (sorry, that is a tad hard to decipher on my wrist swatch). Even with clear center lid on, you can usually see the highlighter subtly sparkle.
Its silken texture allows it to be blended-out easily, so it never looks ultra shiny or obvious on skin, and is virtually impossible to over-apply. Typically, with my finger tip I place it down the center of my nose, on the cupid’s bow of my lip, on the tear duct area, top of cheeks, and above the outer corner of brows. It can also be used to layer over any color eyeshadow for more dimensional color.
Butter Highlighter additionally contains skin loving ingredients of essential fatty acids and vitamins that further work to moisturize, soften and condition skin. Along with the blend of plant butters, this product cares for skin as well as imparts color.
Overall, it adds a brightness to my complexion that picks up even faint light. This highlighter gives a lovely, natural glow to skin. It will be perfect for dimly lit or candlelight holiday parties this winter.
I usually add a spray primer over the top of it to make sure it stays up. But, you could alternatively use a cream or gel primer pre-application.
The pot it comes in contains 0.17oz/5g of highlighter, has a screw on lid that stays shut en route, and is a lovely light grey pearl color (except for the clear part of the lid, of course). You are likely to find these anywhere that sells Physicians Formula. I know some other stores that have carried it in the past are: Ulta, Bed Bath & Beyond, CVS and Walgreens.
I’d love to hear if you use any of the Butter products, and if so which colors you love.
Go Gorgeous! xo,
Jen
