MAYBELLINE Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color in corrupt cranberry

Not one to shy away from a deep burgundy lipstick, I found shade #39 corrupt cranberry of Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Lip Color.

Love the color! Corrupt cranberry is a blue-toned burgundy that can be applied thinly for a lighter version, or full-on for a true blue/cranberry shade. I start in the center of the lip and blend it out to the corners, to the desired darkness.

Target (among others) sells Maybelline’s Color Sensation Vivid Matte Liquid lip color in 20 shades. This highly pigmented formula comes in some more daring colors than the usual shades—like orange obsession (bright orange), sinful stone (blue/grey), vivid violet (bright purple), possessed plum (blackest purple) and wicked berry (blue hued purple). The tamer colors, for instance, are nude thrill (light beige nude), nude flush (pink nude) and pink charge (coral pink).

There are several other shades I still want to buy: berry boost, coffee buzz, and smoky rose.

I purchased the corrupt cranberry color at Target for $5.99 USD, which seemed to be one of the lower prices I could find for this lip product. I’ve seen it as high as $7.99 at Ulta, so if you decide to get some of these shop around first. Walmart has them for $5.95 each.

These matte lip colors were designed to very highly pigmented and provide vivid lip color. They purport having a mousse-like texture.

I find that the texture is a bit thicker than tube lipsticks, but the coverage with these can be tricky because of somewhat uneven texture (however, I do like these). Even though corrupt cranberry looks like a very dark burgundy in the container, it actually goes on somewhat lighter.

It has pretty good staying power and does not stain lips (so can be removed almost completely if you change your mind about wearing it). The angled application tip is handy too.

After wearing this for a week or so, I have the best results if I blot it a bit after application in order to make sure it appears matte and so it does not have any splotchiness. A primer or foundation base also helps with its wear.

I hope everyone is surviving the mid-week lull. Carry on!

Have a gorgeous week!!!

xoxo,

Jen
