#BIRCHBOX August 2017—easy does it

I’m a few weeks behind schedule posting the items I received in August’s BIRCHBOX, themed easy does it. So, before the September box arrives I wanted to share the samples I received from August.

The easy does it theme for this box refers to sample products based on having an easy beauty routine during the last few days of summer. All the samples are geared to help you feel fresh and recharged for fall.

First up:

  • GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment, full size price is $69.00

This is the one sample in the box that I got to personally select. I chose this one, from a number of  available products, primarily because I have and use GLAMGLOW’s Glowstarter, and love it! I have been wanting to try more by this brand.

Their THIRSTYMUD does not disappoint! It is an ultra-hyrdrating mask for face, neck and décolleté (all the areas that tend to get the most sun), with powerful ingredients: hyaluronic acid plus raw honey & ginger root.

The mask comes out of its tube a fairly liquid mud with a light perfume-y scent. After dispensing it, apply it to skin and leave it on for 10-20 minutes. Then, wipe off the excess product and massage the remaining residue into skin for ultimate moisture.

Following the summer season and days spent in the sun (or during the winter when cool temperatures can be drying and snow sports take their toll on skin), this product is an essential way to give extra dry skin the care it needs.

Cleanance is a medium thick face and body wash gel. The clear gel has a smooth viscosity, flows easily, and is gentle as well as soap-free.

This formula is perfect for acne-prone or oily skin and lathers with just a small amount. I find that it has a clean, light heirloom rose and soap scent.

The sample I received of this item just came with a blush (a medium coral color) and a bronzer (a light tan).

I didn’t find the pigment payoff for these was dark enough for the look I wanted to achieve. And, I didn’t think they lasted very long on the skin.

However, I think these would work out just find for a natural or ‘no-makeup’ look. And, they could alternatively be used as subtle eyeshadow colors. Either use would work best with a primer first.

  • Klorane Anti-Fade Shampoo and Conditioner with Pomegranate for Color-Treated Hair, full size price is $20.00 each

I love the fresh fruity scent of this pair of hair products. And, Klorane is a fabulous brand for its natural ingredients.

Both are sulfate-free and incorporate pomegranate peel extract to bind color (from treatment) onto hair keratin. They prevent color from fading with a patented and proven effectiveness. In fact, they have been tested and found to help color stay true for up to two times more than without their use.

I also appreciate that these are paraben-free, silicone-free and biodegradable. They lather nicely, smell divine, and left my hair feeling s000 soft sans fly-aways after use. Plus, they help add shine to tresses.

I’ve got these on my list to get in the full-size versions!

And, finally:

  • Marcelle City Tinted Cream SPF 25 in the shade Fair, full size price is $22.00

Marcelle is another brand that I have purchased before, use regularly, and love for its skin loving properties.

This multi-protection cream guards against pollution and harmful UVA rays with antioxidants, green tea, aloe and chamomile. I received the lightest of 4 colors that it comes in—Fair, which is perfect for my skin color.

City Tinted Cream moisturizes, brightens, and tightens pores to boot! Love it!

Overall, another very good, customized array of samples from Birchbox! Hope you enjoyed seeing these.

Go Gorgeous!

xo,

Jen
