MAC X steve j and yoni p Dazzleshadow duos

MAC (Make-up Art Cosmetics) currently has 2 steve j  & yoni p Dazzleshadow duo compacts: Touch Me Baby and Midnight Fever.

I bought the Midnight Fever duo first, then had to go back to the MAC site and order the other one too! And, couldn’t help myself, also added a couple eye makeup brushes and a lipstick to the order. Plus, MAC threw in a lipstick sample card and mini Upward Lash sample.

These cute little compacts of Dazzleshadows won’t be around long!

btw and firstly—

in case you didn’t know, steve j & yoni p (the inspiration for these duos) lead a contemporary womenswear label, with HQ in Seoul. The line’s focus is on high-end women’s casualwear.

Each of these small, pale pink compacts is approximately 1 and just over 1/2 inches X 3 inches in size and has a clear lid with a graphic of stylized eyes. The lids close tightly with a magnetic seal, but still are very easy to open with your fingertips, and will fit nicely in your purse or even clutch. Each weighs 1.5g/0.05g. Dazzle shadows are named for their 3D dimensional effect and endless particles of glittery flecks.

I’m happy that I ended up purchasing both of these sets, because they each have very different qualities and effects.

MIDNIGHT FEVER contains the Dazzleshadows:

  • Sparkling Moment—grey/black that looks violet in the pan, with tons of micro red/purple sparkles
  • Let’s Boogie—grey/green black with micro fuchsia sparkles

Let’s Boogie is also sold on the MAC site as a single color, part of their more permanent Dazzleshadow collection.

Although each of the eyeshadows in the MIDNIGHT FEVER set looks radically different (one pan appears violet/fuchsia and the other grey/green), the fact that they both contain black pigment in the finest of size gives them both a darker cast once applied.

The black hue of Sparkling Moment is more purple and Let’s Boogie is more grey.

Micro-sparkles in each have their own color reflections, further contributing to the complex sheen of these eyeshadows. I can only imagine that in direct sunlight, they must be captivating on the eyelid. For evening, they will pick up any presence of light and add an aura of mystery.

MIDNIGHT FEVER is alluring with its own curious prismatic effects.

And, especially if applied with wet brush fibers, is dark enough to go with your little black dress, full dark lashes, and even the vampiest red lipstick.

However, don’t dismiss these for day wear, as they can be used more strategically to amp-up your usual office go-to eyeshadows. Somehow the micro, talc-free, consistency of this duo causes it to apply almost like a creme—allowing it to be blended out as much as you wish.

Loving the MIDNIGHT FEVER shadows as much as I did after receiving them I thought I better go back online to MAC and order the other set before they were gone! So, I also have the TOUCH ME BABY set!

TOUCH ME BABY contains these dazzleshadows:

  • Keep on Twinkling (lustre)—frosty ice pink with silver micro glitter
  • Soba (satin)—pale, warm tan/beige (like the noodles), mostly matte, with just a touch of some mini-micro silver twinkles

Unlike the way the silken way the MIDNIGHT FEVER shadows apply, these dazzleshadows are traditional formulas with a powdery base.

And, the TOUCH ME BABY set is at the other end of the spectrum in color and tone. These two shades are much softer and toned-down. They are excellent for daywear, or to add an extra sparkle to the basic everyday eyeliner with mascara look.

Both of these dazzleshadows go on the lid true to the color that they are in the pan. I find that Soba makes a perfect crease color and have been using Keep on Twinkling as an eye-brightening lid color.

With all four of these eyeshadows, I recommend starting with a primer—I like UD’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Or, follow your full makeup application with a setting spray to help the sparkles stay in place. You may get a bit of fallout by the end of wear but, because most the particles are so fine that’s not all bad!

These steve j and yoni p duos are priced at $22.00 USD each.

p.s. I also ordered MAC Cremesheen lipstick in Creme in Your Coffee, a lovely darker, matte, high-shine nude. Plus, eyeshadow brushes #239 (my third of this model) and #217.

Have a great rest of the week, Gorgeous!!!
