This month Birchbox is featuring products that are good to your skin and hair, with ingredients that brighten and soothe. I really love my selections for April – many of them are products I haven’t yet tried before, so am excited to receive them:

THE BEAUTY CROP – #GRLPWR Lips Liquid Lipstick in Imma Bawse

At first, I thought that the color Imma Bawse was going to be a dull brownish red color – from the way it appeared through the packaging. However, I was pleased to find that it is actually a very richly pigmented, somewhat bright, blue/red.

Girl Power for sure!

The magic of this lipstick comes from its incredible staying power. It goes on smoothly, sets quickly to a matte lip color, and wears for hours!

This Vegan and Cruelty-free red is packed with Shea Butter and Vitamin E to care for lips.

DAVINES – LOVE Smoothing Shampoo & LOVE Smoothing Conditioner

The LOVE shampoo is creamy/foamy with olive oil and rice proteins to smooth hair and eliminate tangles, as you wash. It has won beauty awards from Allure both in 2011 and 2014.

An added benefit, is that its calming ingredients can also help diminish any scalp sensitivity. Making it a perfect choice for course or frizzy hair, because of these smoothing abilities.

It smells great too – sweet and somewhat citrus-y.

LOVE conditioner is the same milky lavender color, with the same powers to soften and smooth. The conditioner is intensely moisturizing, with fatty acids to impart shine and hair-strengthening proteins.

DR JART+ – Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream

The magic ingredient in this blend is cantle asiatica – a medicinal herb known for its ability to heal and calm inflammation. When applied to the skin, directly on problem areas, it solves redness, uneven skin tone, acne and blemishes.

Although it smells a bit medicine-y, it’s highly concentrated formula will restore skin’s moisture barrier, heal and protect, all in small amounts. Delivering a ton of moisture to skin, it strengthens and soothes – a true miracle-worker.

MARCELLA – BB Cream in Golden Glow

I was delighted to receive this BB Cream sample because of it’s brightening abilities. The ultimate multitasker, this cream promises to hydrate, control shine (which I need), even out skin tone, help dull imperfections (which I also need) and calm stressed skin. The Golden Glow illuminating particles, with a universal tint, give skin a sun kissed glow.

It can be worn alone or over your daytime SPF moisturizer, under foundation. The shade is absolutely gorgeous with just a hint of the tiniest sparkle until it is blended into skin.

Immediately hydrating, the cream also provides ‘long-term’ hydration. And, it is: paraben-free, hypoallergenic, oil free, + 100% perfume free. Antioxidants, aloe and chamomile within, care for skin.

I may have to invest in a full-size of this cream when I’m finished with the sample.

NUMBER 4 – Jour d’Antome Soothing Balm

This is a hair balm, meant to calm and smooth tresses. You work the balm evenly into damp hair to tame frizz, soften and give hair a sleek look. After applying, finish by blow drying.

With the weather already heating up, my hair will greatly benefit from this extra step.
