BLACK MAGIC Ipsy Glam Bag October 2016
Hey, Boo! My October ‘Black Magic’ Halloween themed Glam Bag includes some freaky good finds!
The possibly ‘cute’ bag this month is actually a pale pink color and covered with small spooky images (like the smiling bat skeleton). It was designed by female artist Valfre for Ipsy. She feels that makeup is magic in itself, as it allows an expression of your own style. Makeup is magical in its powers to transform.
Items that I received this month (based on my survey results, which I have tweaked over the months to better ensure that I receive products that I find most interesting – by retaking the survey):
- TRESTIQUE Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Florence Fig
- ESSENCE Superfine Eyeliner Pen in Waterproof Black
- PURE BRAZILIAN MIRACLE Leave-in Conditioner with Keratin
- THE BALM Shadow/Blush in Hot Mama!
- JoSHIK Nail Polish in Luxe – full sized item
-> The TRESTIQUE Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Florence Fig is a fabulous medium matte nude. A color that will likely look great on most.
This brand is new to me, and I immediately became interested to find out more with the introduction of this great lip product. I found the tag line ‘beauty meets simple‘ on their site – trestique.com.
The full-sized lip crayons come in six different colors, that each also include a BB balm on the other end of the case: Fabulous Fig & Rose Balm, Chile Red & Sangiovese Balm, Nantucket Nude & Mucat Blanc Balm, Nammos Pink & Pink Champagne Balm, Barcelona Bright Berry & Cava Balm, and Belize Bordeaux & Grenache Balm. The balm is multi-purpose, it can be used as a moisturizing primer or a top coat that adds shine to lips over the crayon’s color delivery (or I suppose used both ways) – fascinating. Because the smaller sample that I received does not include a balm, I may have to splurge for a full size of this product at $28.00 USD.
All of the Trestique products follow a similar case design with product on one end and an applicator on the other. For example, their blushes have a short/compact bristled brush on one end.
Plus, the brand’s website has a link for you to upload a selfie and get their best product match recommendations. Very innovative! And, made in the USA.
-> ESSENCE’s Superfine Eyeliner Pen in Waterproof Black glides on so smoothly. Its flexible, tapered applicator can draw the finest of lines, allowing precision in the application.
This eyeliner is quite the find because of its long lasting and smudge proof qualities (especially with the waterproof black), and also because of its price – just about $3.00 USD at Target or Ulta. It also comes in black and deep black, without being waterproof.
I’ve thankfully discovered that it comes off easily with soap and water.
->PURE BRAZILIAN MIRACLE Leave-in Conditioner with Keratin is indeed a miracle for stressed strands. Having long, color-treated hair, I am finding this product works wonders for my hair.
It contains reparative Keratin that actually works to re-construct dry damaged hair by restoring keratin proteins. With just 4-6 sprays on newly washed/towel dried hair, it hydrates, seals out humidity, adds shine and improves elasticity. Comb it through to evenly distribute and – Presto!
This conditioner is also sodium chloride-free and made in the USA. It comes in two sizes: 6.78 fl oz at $26.00 USD and 1 fl oz at $6.00 USD.
-> THE BALM’s Hot Mama! shadow/blush is a warm almost orange peach, a lovely flushed color for cheeks or eyelids. Its smudge proof, very pigmented and long lasting.
Mica in this powder make it a bit sparkly, and it gives the face a rosy glow. It comes in a range of blush colors and a full-sized shadow/blush runs $21.00 USD.
-> Another affordable gem is JoSHIK Nail Polish, which sells for $12.00 USD. It was intentionally made to offer a high-quality polish at a reasonable price.
Its advertised as luxurious, vegan, cruelty-free and non-toxic (either 5 or 7 free of formaldehyde, DBP, Toluene, camphor, formaldehyde resin, paragons, xylene and/or TPHP). Its qualities include: chip resistant, durable, fast drying and a glossy finish.
Somewhere along the way purple became a halloween color – so I received this polish in LUXE, a very deep purple (which is what I currently have on my toenails). Its a lovely shade, but I would also like to try VIP (metallic royal blue) and IMAGINE (shimmering emerald green).
