January’s IPSY GLAM BAG is all about pretty eyes – All Eyes on You! The small makeup bag included has a colorful repeated design of a girl in sunglasses on the front, a top yellow zipper closure, and a cornflower blue reverse side.
Items included in my bag are:
- Marsk – Mineral Eyeshadow in You’re Toast, 0.04oz/1.2g
- Lasting Smiles – Organic Lip Balm in peppermint cream, 0.15oz/4.25g
- the Balm – Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil in Jac B. Bronze, 0.01oz/0.28g
- CoastalScents – limited edition Pearl Shadow Angle Large brush, roughly 7″ bristles and handle
- pur-lisse – Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum, .24oz/7ml
The Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow appears to be a full-size item. It’s a 100% natural, mineral-based loose powder eyeshadow. Marsk products are all cruelty-free, as well as free of talc, paraben and fragrance
The color You’re Toast is a medium warm brown with shimmer. It goes on very light and looks great as a crease, or all-over lid color. I’ve been wearing it with just an eyeliner and mascara for daytime looks. And incidentally I noticed that on the Marsk site, that this color in particular has rated 5 out of 5 starts so far!
The Organic Lip Balm is by Lasting Smiles, a company that helps fund cleft lip or cleft palate surgeries for children in developing countries. For every 1,000 balms they sell, one child receives one of these needed surgeries.
I received this balm in peppermint cream, but it also comes in passion fruit, pure pomegranate, peach and simply moisture. It feels great on lips, is richly hydrating and always 100% vegetarian with no animal testing or artificial colors.
Its scent is not lasting, once applied to lips, but it is very moisturizing with coconut oil, sunflower oil and shea butter.
A bronze/brown, the eyeliner pencil Mr. Write (Now) eyeliner pencil by the Balm is the color Jac B. Bronze. These eye pencils have a very fine point, kept sharp by a built-in sharpener (in the lid I think). They come in 8 choices of shades and are long-lasting. I like this shade applied with a smudged-in thicker line.
Recently, I modified my preferences on the IPSY site, so I think I received the eye brush because I noted that I preferred brushes to other items. CoastalScents is a brand that sells a variety of well-priced beauty products, and this is the first product of theirs that I have tried. They make brushes with natural hair or synthetic fibers.
The limited edition Pearl Shadow Angle Large brush is approximately 7″ long from bristles the end of the handle. Its bristles are VERY soft, and the brush holds eyeshadow quite well. The brush has no odor and it does not shed. I definitely recommend trying CoastalScents’s makeup brushes.
The pur-lisse – Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum intensively hydrates the eye area to prevent wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness. It contains proven ingredients like blue lotus extract, which has antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties.
This serum is lightweight and is recommended for day and night application. It works great under makeup during the day due to its fine texture.
As usual, my sister and I opened our IPSY bags for January together. Here are a few pictures of both, so that you can see what some of the other items subscribers received (depending on their set preferences).
Her makeup item is a Pixi eyeshadow duo in lavender bloom – a brown and a mauve shadow set. She did not think the Hanalei sugar lip scrub works very well because its sugar particles are too tiny. However, she loved the Burt’s Bees oil make-up remover because it leaves her face feeling clean and soft – she said it should be applied to a dry face, then when water is added it turns the oil milky, after which she rinses it off with water. It can be followed-up with a face wash, but her experience is that it removes all make-up effectively and does not leave any oily residue.
I hope you enjoyed seeing both of our IPSY Bag items. This program is great for offering the chance to try different product brands.
