VICTORIA’S SECRET mini Beauty haul – August

After receiving some promo offer cards in the mail from Victoria’s Secret, I couldn’t resist popping in to the Redmond Town Center store to see if there was anything I had to have. I purchased a couple items that I am enjoying using: Magic FX Transforming Pearl Eye Quad, Color Drama Lipstick, a ‘hi gorgeous!‘ purse mirror, and I received a sample of Victoria eau de parfum.

The Magic FX pearl eyeshadow eye quad offered selections unique to anything I already have in my collection. The four slightly shimmery shades are meant to be transform your look to something extraordinary, and can either be worn alone or over a typical eyeshadow application – they are all fairly sheer. I tried these on in the store over the eye shadows I was already wearing and they gave my eye makeup an opalescent quality. The four colors each have an intended area of wear: pale lilac – highlighter, pale green – crease, gold – base and pink – lid. I tried them today based on the recommended application areas, paired with just a bit of frosty light brown eyeshadow in the crease (to ensure a little better depth). I experimented with the gold over the majority of the lid and pink at the inner corner of the lid – and they look very clean and fresh, effectively brightening-up the eye. This is a fun summer item.

I’d seen Victoria’s Color Drama Lipstick in the company’s last mailing and was interested to try one of the wide range of colors that were offered. After trying a medium purple and a red, I decided on the color Amplified. Although it looks pretty bright in the swatch online, it goes on as more of a medium brownish red. This lipstick gives full-coverage color with shine and says it contains an Exclusive Moisture Rush Complex. It goes on smooth and lasts hours, even the shine lasts. I liked that they offered such a wide range of colors, from Intensity (a dark burgundy, Naked (nude), Ignite (orange/red), Stolen Kiss (bright pink) to Shiver (medium bright purple). In total there are 24 vibrant shades to choose from. And, VS recommends lining your lip and coloring them in with a lip liner before applying this lipstick to get the longest wear from it.

With a post card offer, they also added a sample of Victoria eau de parfum to my purchase. Victoria is said to contain the combined essence of red berries, Victoria rose and creme brûlée. This sweet floral is light, ideal for day wear, although it does not seem to have great lasting power. I noticed that it also comes in a body mist and body lotion.

Lastly, I couldn’t resist picking up the small ‘hi gorgeous!’ mirror. The top slides to reveal a magnifying mirror on one side and a regular mirror on the other side. Definitely a handy fine – especially for GiveMeGorgeous! 🙂
