Summer Is Well Underway! Tinted Lip Balms

I’m doing a little review of several tinted lip balms in my collection, today, in honor of the warm weather. With the heat of summer underway in the Northwest, lips have the tendency to need a little more moisture care to look their best. I’ve chosen Maybelline’s Baby Lips, Covergirl’s Smoochies and Say Yes to Carrots’s C Me Blush Lip Tint.

1. Baby Lips are very hydrating – their packaging promises 8 hours of moisturizing and lip renewal in one week, with ingredients like shea butter, vitamin e and aloe leaf extract. These go on silky smooth and each have a fun scent, except possibly the Quenched variety. The tinted ones come in Cherry Me, Peach Kiss, Pink Punch and Grape Vine (I’ve also seem a Plum variety sold online), and two clear choices Peppermint and Quenched.  I purchased the three I selected at Target for $3.99 USD each. The Peach Kiss has a light peach scent and has a very slight frost – it is a nice nude, Cherry Me smells like cherry candy and has a rosy tint, and Grape Vine of course smells like grape and has barely purple tint. I really like all of these (which is why I now have three) and they keep my lips from drying out quite well. The swatches below will give you an idea of color, although they go on very lightly so the swatches don’t have a lot of tint.

2. Smoochies have the most tint of the three brands in this review but still are essentially sheer. They run about $4.94 USD each and come in a range of colors with tints such as orange-red, neutral, coral, bronze, burgundy, mauve and pink, and also moisturize lips. Varieties I’ve seen are: Cute, Be Sweet, C U L8R, Lov Bug, Luv U, OnlyU, Sweet Tweet, Text Me and Tru Luv. The one that I have is the color Smooch which is a pale, shiny, frosty pink. I can feel some of the frost granuals when I rub my lips together, when wearing this one. It has a very faint sweet smell. Nice for when you want a little more color than perfectly sheer, but I will probably not get this one again because of the texture.

3.  C Me Blush Lip Tint is 95% organic. The Ready Red color has a sheer tint with a little sheen, contains natural oils and shea butter for their moisturizing qualities, and has a refreshing peppermint smell. I may have purchased this one last year, so I’m not sure they make this variety any more but Yes To does still have variety of lip butters and color lip balms for sale. I like the Say Yes To Carrots lip products because they go on smoothly and smell great. I want to branch out and try some of their Say Yes to Blueberries as well as Say Yes to Grapefruit products.
